Advertising board on fire - 30.09.2023 in Bochum stadium

Feuerwehr löscht die LED Bande

On Saturday, September 30, 2023, a disturbing incident occurred during a Bundesliga soccer match when an LED advertising board went up in flames. The fire was caused by a smoke bomb thrown from the Gladbach fan block. This worrying incident draws attention to the potential dangers associated with the use of LED screens. The LED advertising boards, which are widely used at sporting events, are considered an effective way of presenting advertising. However, this incident illustrates that there can be risks under certain circumstances.

The smoke bomb, which was apparently thrown deliberately, ignited the fire on the advertising board, which led to a dangerous situation. The smoke bomb was able to set fire to the advertising hoarding, as such hoardings are traditionally made largely of plastic.

We at Screen Experts recognized the dangers that LED screens can pose several years ago and set about developing the first "non-flammable LED screens". Thanks to our special technology, our screens achieve a classification of up to A2-s1-d0 in accordance with the EN13501-1 standard. Our technology is protected by an international patent.

As the dangers exist both outdoors and indoors, we have developed products for both areas of application that meet the highest safety standards.
